Energising the Illawarra with Offshore Wind.

Notice

The Illawarra Offshore Wind Farm project team wishes to share the following statement with our valued suppliers and stakeholders:

Equinor decided to not submit a feasibility licence application for the Illawarra offshore wind zone.

The decision was made as part of Equinor’s ongoing review of the early-stage project investments, which is aimed at maintaining a strong and balanced portfolio to ensure we can put our technical and financial capabilities behind projects in the portfolio. As part of the decision, we carefully evaluated risk factors that are currently impacting the global industry and conducted project-specific and site-specific assessments.

This decision allows us to focus on the Novocastrian Offshore Wind project, for which we have been granted a provisional feasibility licence, in the Hunter offshore wind zone in New South Wales. We look forward to working closely with local communities and suppliers, building on decades of coexistence with users of the sea, to bring offshore wind to the Hunter region in due course.
